ESSER Funding

To the Legacy – Arizona Community

In 2020 and 2021, Congress passed three separate COVID-19 federal relief packages. These packages delivered millions of dollars directly to schools and districts. The most recent relief package, ESSER III, included new application requirements for schools to support local recovery needs and efforts in response to COVID-19.

Legacy is seeking stakeholder feedback in the creation of its ESSER III plans and engaging in meaningful consultation with stakeholders, including students, families, school and district employees, special education administrators, teachers, principals, school leaders, other educators, and more.

Our goal is to allocate these federal recovery dollars strategically and equitably in order to reach students and communities at each of our schools. This may include:

  • Support for students and school communities most impacted by COVID-19
    • Additional permanent substitutes, grab and go meal services, and increased custodial supplies and support.
  • Expanding schools’ access to evidence-based teacher programs and trainings
    • Subject-area interventionists in math and reading who are responsible for supporting student achievement in crucial academic areas.
  • Addressing multiple factors that impact students’ academics, including:
    • School counselors and psychologists to support the development of a safe and respectful positive school climate and the social-emotional well-being of students.

School districts are limited as to how they can use our ESSER funds to address issues that have risen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, all parents, district employees, students and community members are urged to provide a public comment on Legacy Traditional Schools’ allocation of ESSER III funds as outlined above.

We appreciate your input and for taking the time to provide your feedback.
